Honor, honorable – words we don’t use a lot anymore.  In generations past they were more commonly used.  Of course, our language changes as time passes.  Words and phrases come and go in common usage.  But, why have these words practically disappeared?  What words have we used in their place.  Hopefully, we use words of similar meaning. . .respect, integrity.                                        

If we do the honorable thing, we would be acting with integrity, deserving of respect.  And it would not be a case of doing just “what’s right for me,” but rather, simply “doing what’s right.”

Wouldn’t this be a great way to make decisions?. . .“What would be the honorable thing to do?”  We couldn’t go wrong, could we?

Honor, and any form of it, is such a good word.  I wish we would start using it more often.
